Bonded Carrier

A bonded carrier is a transportation provider authorized by the customs authority, and covered by a customs bond, to move imported goods that have not yet been cleared or that are traveling under bond between customs locations. The bond guarantees that the goods will arrive at the designated destination and that any duties will be accounted for, protecting revenue while the merchandise is in transit within the country. Using a bonded carrier is essential for in-bond movements and for transporting merchandise to and from bonded warehouses and foreign trade zones.
